Olson Family Genealogy

What genealogy research has been done that we are aware of pertains to Elmer Olson's mother, Jenny Ingeborg Taube. Lois Miller of Grand Rapids has been studying this Taube lineage, and has compiled an amazing amount of information.

We can trace this back all the way to a man named Claus Tuve af Etz, who lived in the early 1400s. Here is the pedigree all fhe way from him to Elmer:

Claus Uve af Etz (mentioned 1428 - Stockholm records show him in 1443 known as Claes Tuuen.)

Berendt Uve zu Etz (1440-1497)

Jacob Tuve zu Etz (1470-1528)

Otto Tuve zu Etz (? - 1581) - he died in "the war".

Loff Tuve zu Issen (1550-1615) -- he was born in Finland, and was noted as a landowner in Estland, Russian / Estonia. He married Kunigunda von Taube, which seems to be where the Taube name enters the picture.

Berendt Taube von der Issen (1595-1676) -- One of our bigger big shot ancestors. He was buried in Estonia, and served in the military in very high military positions, including colonel. He is considered the rather of all Taubes in Sweden nd Finland, and also for Estland, Russia. He was "introduced to Swedish nobility in Stockholm in 1621", whatever that means.

Claus Johann Taube (1652-1702) - Born in Estonia. He was a cavalry captain in the Swedish army.

Vollter Ludvig Taube (1684-1726) - Born in Estonia. Captain in the Swedish army, served in many battles, and was seriously wounded.

Christoffer Reinhold Taube (1715-1795) - Second lieutenant in the Swedish army.

Arvid Joachim Taube (1776-1829) - Born in Finland. His grandson, Evert Taube, was a well-known poet, singer and entertainer. He was a Major in the Swedish army, and received a gold medal for valor. He was wounded several times. He married Johanna Fredrika Mesterton, who came from a Scottish family. The Mesterton family geneology is on a web site at www.mesterton.net/aloitus.htm.

Carl Arvid Taube (1811-1874) - This was Jenny Taube's grandfather (and Elmer's great-grandfather). Born in Finland. He was a Factory Director, and moved to Sweden. He married Catharina Sofia Jakobsdotter Sandlund (1803-1890); she was Jenny's grandmother.

Frans August Taube (1842-1895) - Jenny's father (and Elmer's grandfather), born and died in Kalix, Sweden. He married Anna Birgitta Sundqvist (1844-1903); she was Jenny's mother. Both of Elmer's grandparents were deceased long before he or his siblings were born. (His grandparents on his father Oskar's side lived until 1915 - grandmother - and 1926 - grandfather. But they were in Sweden so it seems likely he never saw any of his grandparents.)

Jenny Ingeborg Taube (1887-1981). Elmer's mother, born in Nederkalix Sweden and died in Rockford IL. Elmer's father, Oskar Vilhelm Olsson (1878-1962), was born in Fryksande, Varmland, Sweden, and died in Rockford IL.

Elmer Olson (1916-1997) was one of six children of Jenny and Oskar, along with Florence, Helen, Elsie, Jean, and Paul.
