Elm Vs. the Agnew Defense Fund

It all started with Dad sending in a check for 2 cents to the Spiro Agnew Defense Fund, on October 1, 1973. (For you youngsters reading this, Agnew was Richard Nixon's Vice President, who resigned in 1973 after pleading "no contest" to charges of taking more than $100,000 in bribes while in public office.)

Attn: W. Clement Stone

Sir:

Enclosed please find my contribution to the Agnew Defense Fund in the amount of 2¢, which is what I believe this whole administration is worth. It doesn't match your contribution to President Truthful, but it's just as sincere.

For a man whom his defenders cry is entitled to his day in court, Vice-President Honesty is trying his hardest to stay out of court. Your quote that "Mr. Agnew is an honest man; he is not a wealthy man," is a strange admission. No one would know the distinction better than you.

Yours in disgust,

E.O. Olson
